Founder + Chief Creative Director
As a champion of both small businesses and blue-chip companies, Steven believes that inside every small business are the ingredients of a powerful brand, and that large companies can thrive with a dose of small-brand passion. Merging his big-agency experience and design studio training, Steven formed SARANKCO: Creative Studio in 2007 to offer best-in-class creative with a roll-up-your-sleeves work ethic and relationship-focused personal service. His vision has led to an influential cross-industry client base and an impressive list of long-standing relationships.
Whether the assignment is a complete brand refresh or a modest communications piece, Steven leads SARANKCO’s talented team of designers and writers on every project. Together, they help clients build standout brands and inspiring creative communications.
Steven’s skillset is expansive, his charm contagious, and his devotion to his employees, clients, and studio nothing short of respectable. At his core, Steven is a hard-working Midwesterner with East Coast style. Although the studio has grown from a fifth floor walk-up in Chelsea to a bustling Flatiron suite, he keeps SARANKCO dedicated to its humble roots.
Steven is not one to rest on his laurels. His command of design and attention to detail are surpassed only by his humility. His work has appeared in and been recognized by publications and organizations such as Print, HOW, AIGA, REBRAND, Michael Evamy’s book Logo, and Graphic Design USA. He has been asked to judge industry competitions and has lectured student groups from Ohio to Italy.
A long-time Manhattan resident, he lives in a renovated pre-war apartment in West Chelsea. His devotion to SARANKCO and his love affair with New York City are only trumped by the thrill of a good practical joke. At any given time, you can find Steven traversing the streets of Manhattan with his trusty toy poodles, Madge and Roger, in tow.
